Dr Matthew Ong
General Practitioner
Dr Ong has a Bachelor of Medicine Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from The University of Western Australia and is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (FRACGP).
Dr Ong holds Part 1 Fellowship of Medical Acupuncture from the Australian Medical Acupuncture College (AMAC) and current AHPRA registration with endorsement in Acupuncture.
Dr Ong spent his residencies in Royal Perth Hospital, including terms in Urology, Vascular surgery, Emergency Department, Epilepsy, General Medicine and more.
He served as a family doctor in suburban Perth for several years during which time he gained broad experience in all aspects of General Practice, developing interests in areas of Men’s Health, Preventative Health, Chronic Disease Management, Mental Health and Aged Care. Dr Ong also became qualified in Medical Acupuncture during this time. He then moved to the UK where he worked as a GP in NHS England for 3 years, continuing to expand his professional experience, skills and expertise as a GP. He then relocated back to Australia and joined Indooroopilly General Practice in January 2025.
Dr Ong enjoys the breadth of practice that General Practice offers and the holistic experience of family medicine. He enjoys getting to know patients over time. Dr Ong enjoys all aspects of General Practice and has special interests in the following areas:
- Medical Acupuncture,
- Men’s Health,
- Preventative Health and Health Checks,
- Child and Adolescent Health,
- Skin Checks,
- Mental Health,
- Seniors’ Health, and
- Chronic Disease Management.
Dr Ong is caring and down-to-earth and welcomes patients of all ages. He is available four days per week from Monday to Thursday.
