Prof Chris Andrews
General Practitioner
Prof Chris Andrews has been in General Practice for nearly 40 years and is looking forward to joining Indooroopilly General Practice.
Chris has done much study over many years, and in Medicine has practised in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care as well as General Practice. His intern year was in Cairns, and then he practised in Ipswich for resident years. These attachments gave a wealth of experience. In addition, Anaesthetics and ICU practice included RBWH, RCH, Mater, and Wesley Hospitals. In the Medical fields he holds MBBS (Hons) and the European Diploma of Intensive Care Medicine. He is a vocationally registered GP.
In addition, he holds the degrees of BE (Hons), MEngSc, JD, GDLP, and DipCSc.
In medicine, Chris has interests in Psychiatry, Paediatrics, Adult Medicine, and Skin Cancer, as well as being informed by the Anaesthetics and ICU fields. He conducts Aviation Medical Examinations, and studied the ACCAM at Monash University.
Outside Medicine, Chris has a pilot’s licence achieving a CPL and Instrument Rating (DipAv). He has conducted research in Electrical and Lightning Injuries from a medical and engineering perspective and was awarded a PhD in this field. He has authored several books and book chapters in this field as well as journal articles.
In private life, Chris lives locally, and enjoys electronics, computers and family history. He is currently studying music at The University of Queensland, having previously received a DipArts on the way to BMus. He relaxes in the garden, and also with reading, various musical pastimes, and is also a cricket umpire. He is an active member of a local church.
